''When I think of the work of Angela Schanelec, I remember one of the first interviews I read in which she spoke about her film MARSEILLE (2004). She said: “I would tell a dramatic event as something that happens without being used as a dramaturgical moment. It just happens. It's important to me that I manage to interest the viewer in a person without anything dramatic happening. I look for other means to do that.” Angela Schanelec's cinema is one with an open structure – a structure she builds with in-between moments. Moments in which we are emotionally the most raw.

In her work, she brings her experience from theatre acting into a beautiful dialogue with cinematic images, which are composed much like paintings. It is about the strength of a gesture and the beauty of movement. The pace of the images shifts our focus to seeing and observing, creating a narrative with an almost physical texture. A texture of feelings.''
