The AHK Starterscafé starts with English-language workshops

Published on

On Monday, January 15th, the AHK Starterscafé will reopen its doors! We are kicking off the year with a series of English-language workshops designed specifically for our international students and alumni.

These workshops will focus on the essential information for expat entrepreneurs starting work in the Netherlands. Whether you are beginning as an employee or as a self-employed individual, the workshops offer valuable insights for everyone. Dutch students, alumni, and other interested individuals are also welcome. For the first international workshop, a delightful cup of soup will be provided.

Entrepreneurship Education
Start your career as a creative professional well prepared! Whether it's now or later, when you've completed your studies, the world is open to you. But where do you begin, and what should you consider when starting your career, whether as an employee or entrepreneur? Under AHK Ondernemen, we provide practical information, workshops, and training courses specifically tailored for emerging employees or entrepreneurs. The BeroepKunstenaar knowledge bank offers in-depth information and answers to questions regarding the business aspects of your professional practice. At the AHK Starterscafé in the Culture Club at the Marineterrein, you can network, participate in workshops, and enjoy drinks every Monday.

Starting as an entrepreneur in the Netherlands
The international block commences with the workshop "Starting as an Expat Entrepreneur" designed for individuals aspiring to launch their ventures as (foreign) entrepreneurs in the Netherlands. Throughout this workshop, participants will gain insights into establishing a strong foundation for their projects on Dutch soil. Attendees will receive an overview of available funds in the Netherlands and familiarize themselves with government agencies pertinent to foreign entrepreneurs. Additionally, guidance on seeking assistance during challenging moments will be provided, offering a valuable support system.

The workshop will be conducted by Felix Welsink, a policy officer and business director. Felix shares, "Navigating the landscape of securing funding can be overwhelming for a young entrepreneur. In my presentation, I outline the process, providing clarity on where to seek assistance. Currently serving as a policy officer at the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science (OCW), I am actively involved in realizing the National Slavery Museum. I also serve on the board of the Makersfonds and the theatre festival Jonge Harten (Young Hearts). With a background in theatre studies and (behavioral) economics, I confidently navigate the intersections of artistic content, funding, and systems."

Felix Welsink formerly served as the business leader of start-ups in the performing arts. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the Anne Faber Stipendium in 2020, a grant specifically aimed at supporting young business talent in the performing arts.
