On Wednesday, June 26, during the Keep an Eye Film Academy Festival at Eye Film Museum, the Keep an Eye Filmscore Award 2024 was presented to composer Stijn Valentijn Grul (Master Composing for Film, Class of 2024) for the final exam film 'Mijn Lief Kind'.

Composer Pepijn Peeters received a special mention for the music for the graduation film ‘Teken mij een thuisland’.

The jury consisted of Mojan Alaiyeh (composer), Michel Schöpping (sound designer) and Bob Zimmerman (composer, also chairman of the jury). They were all very impressed with the compositions for the graduation films.

From the jury report, "For the jury, the winning composer is the one who has written a remarkably diverse score; from pop songs that explicitly refer to a period to an intelligent atmospheric underscore and an emotional string quartet. (...) Through intense collaboration with the director, the music is fully integrated into the drama of the film in dramaturgy, level and balance, supporting it without ever intruding. We were deeply moved by the film and the score and left in deep silence."

The Keep an Eye Filmscore Award consists of a cash prize of €3,500 (winner) and €500 (special mention) to be spent on equipment and further professional development. The award is provided by the Keep an Eye Foundation.
