Steye Hallema is Artist in Residence at the Netherlands Film Academy

Published on

We are excited to welcome our latest Artist in Residence in collaboration with the VR Academy, Steye Hallema. Son of a magician, Steye has forged his own path through magic using cutting-edge media and technology. His immersive experiences challenge traditional methods of storytelling, placing the audience center-stage by inviting them to become part of the experience rather than passively consuming it.

During his residency at the Academy, Steye will work on developing methods for studying player experiences and audience interaction in immersive media. Across a masterclass and feedback sessions, he will use his projects Ancestors and The Imaginary Friend as springboards to explore immersive storytelling with the students.

Keep an eye out for what emerges from Steye’s time with us!
