On Wednesday, March 26, the winners of the 17th edition of the Movies that Matter Festival were announced at the awards ceremony at Theater Aan het Spui in The Hague. The Movies that Matter Education Award went to the Netherlands Film Academy documentary King Ridwan (directed by Sammy Shefa Idris).
King Ridwan follows 20-year-old TikTokker Ridwan, who despite his intellectual disability wants to be taken seriously in his dream of becoming a successful rapper.
Movies that Matter's Education Award highlights the importance of film in raising social awareness among children and youth.
