The academies of the Amsterdam University of the Arts (AHK) have once again achieved exceptionally high rankings in the Options Guide for Higher Professional Education (Keuzegids hbo) 2026: out of eleven associate degree and bachelor’s programmes, nine have been designated as top-rated programmes.
Top-Rated Programmes
The AHK’s programmes have long been known for their high standards — and once again, the guide confirms this reputation. The programmes at the Breitner Academy, the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, the Netherlands Film Academy, and the Academy of Theatre and Dance are recognised as being among the best in their fields and have therefore received the distinction of top-rated programme. In addition, the associate degrees Electronic Music (Conservatorium van Amsterdam) and Classical Ballet (Academy of Theatre and Dance) once again earned this honourable title.
Five-Star Excellence
The bachelor’s programmes in Music, Music in Education, Theatre, as well as the associate degrees in Electronic Music and Classical Ballet, all received the highest possible rating of five stars — a testament to the exceptional quality of teaching, guidance, and artistic development at AHK. They were closely followed by the bachelor’s degrees in Dance, Dance in Education, Fine Art in Education, and Film and Television, each awarded 4.5 stars.
Continued Commitment
The high scores achieved by AHK’s academies in the Options Guide underscore the university’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality arts education and to preparing students for successful careers in the creative industries.
