Course
Master of Film
Class
2019

My name is Giorgia Piffaretti (1989, Switzerland). During my studies in the Bern art school I started to work with video, reflecting on the relation between reality and images. My interest evolves around the question of images’ perception and the relation between reality and representation as well as the potential that lays in the spectators’ projection on different and unusual points of view. I see my work as a collection of re-presented situations - mostly developed from my every day life experiences - which raise questions concerning documentation, memory, point of view and intelligibility. An empty, but fully furnished house, two very similar sunset pictures with a caption on the back, a rubber with a child writing the word 'forever', becomes for example the starting point of an investigation and questioning the approach to ‘reality’.

Within the frame of the master program I want to research the condition of intertwining every day ‘real life’ and film practice. Thus, exploring the concepts of ‘relationship’ as a shared/common space for understanding and mutual projection.
