We are living in a moment of profound technological transformation. The revolution driven by artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual reality (VR) is not only reshaping how we interact with the world but also how we create and experience art. These technologies, which not long ago seemed like science fiction, are now within the reach of artists, opening up a vast array of creative possibilities. However, they are also generating intense ethical debates and raising questions about their long-term impact. Amid this wave of innovation, crucial questions arise: How does AI affect the authenticity of art? Can VR alter our perception of reality or our memories? How do our perception and brain function under these stimuli? What role should ethics play in the use of these technologies? These are some of the key issues at the heart of contemporary debate.

Patricia Pérez Fernández and Yimit Ramírez González, two Cuban-Spanish filmmakers whose collaborative work has deeply explored the potential of VR and AI, will delve into how these technologies have inspired them to explore and reconstruct personal memories, creating immersive experiences that transcend the boundaries of traditional cinema.

Currently, Patricia is directing There Is Something in the Silence, an autobiographical documentary that explores 20 years of her life through her diaries and film archives, using VR and AI to revisit her memories and confront past traumas. Meanwhile, Yimit is working on The Eyes of Mila Kaos, an interactive VR documentary that immerses viewers inside the mind of Tony/Mila, a Cuban actor and his drag queen alter ego. In both projects, Patricia and Yimit have played key roles in the conception and development, mutually supporting each other in the integration of these technologies to enrich and deepen their respective narratives. They will share the creative process behind these projects in an open and interactive presentation.
