Application

Applications for the Greenhouse for Students are currently closed. Stay tuned for the upcoming cycle!

How do I apply?
Are you a third or fourth year student with a research idea you’re keen to explore? Then you’ve come to the right place.

Applications for the Greenhouse take place through a questionnaire. Be prepared to answer questions about why you want to work on your project, your connection to what you’re proposing or its relationship to your previous work and the importance the research has in your development. The questionnaire is in English but feel free to answer in Dutch.

The Greenhouse has room for a maximum of 10 students. You’re welcome to apply as a group (of two or more) with a collaborative project but please note reimbursement of costs can only take place per project.

How will your application be evaluated?
As the Greenhouse is intended for the development of research and knowledge from the practice of filmmaking, proposals are not evaluated based on the criteria of academic research. What we are looking at is the connection between your idea/research question, your experience and the way you want to develop yourself – in addition to the research potential of your proposal. We believe that research and work sessions benefit from a variety of perspectives and expertise – our final selection will ensure that the group is as diverse as possible.

Selection Committee
Applications will be reviewed by the Research Department’s Head of Research, Research Coordinator, the Head of the Bachelor and the team of Film in Context.

Timeline
Applications usually open in Autumn. We start with an Information Evening, the deadline and assessment follow a month later and the announcement of the group will be made the same week. How you want to plan your experiments and the execution of your research ideas is up to you, so you can align with your study programme. Everyone is encouraged to work at their own pace alongside the Idea Labs. You can find more information on the structure of the programme here.
