Programme Structure
Though the specifics of the programme shift from cycle to cycle, the Greenhouse is generally split into two phases: the first is dedicated to the preparation of the project followed by its implementation or further development.
Preparation Phase
Across a series of collective sessions you will work on your own questions or interests. Taking place every two weeks on a Friday, each session focuses on a different aspect of practice-based research, cycling through the why, what, how and for whom of your research. Challenged and supported by the facilitators – all maker-teachers with extensive research experience – and feedback from the group, you will explore your question and arrive at a sharpened proposal that you can implement in the next phase.
Participation in these mandatory sessions and any preparation for them, for a total of 5 days, will be reimbursed.
Implementation Phase
In this second phase, you will receive approximately €4,000 per project that can be used to implement or further develop your proposed plan. You determine in your research proposal when and for what purpose you want to use the available resources. If you have a smaller project, it may be possible to carry it out in its entirety; for larger projects, the seed money can be used to conduct a pilot and/or raise other funds. During this phase, the group will meet again at regular intervals to report back to each other and get feedback. One-on-one meetings with the Greenhouse team will also be scheduled. The schedule will be determined in consultation with the participants.
Please note the programme will be conducted in English. Written contributions can be in Dutch.
