Program Structure
IDEA LABS (4 sessions)
Idea Labs constitute the core of the Greenhouse for Students programme, aiming to help participants interrogate their ideas and formulate practice-based research proposals indicating “why”, “what” and “how” they want to investigate. In those sessions, participants will get to develop ideas stemming from their interests into full-fledged experiments or practice-based research proposals. Sessions will be run by experienced makers and researchers in the form of participatory workshops, where students will aim to put their ideas to the test, and collaboratively interrogate them.
ONLINE CASE STUDIES (3 sessions)
Based on the applications, and the interests of Greenhouse applicants, we will invite makers who develop research through media practices that are interesting to the group. We aim to include two artist-researchers in each session for participants to get inspired by, and ask relevant questions. Possible areas of expertise could include Video Essay, Creative Coding, AI, Experimental Filmmaking, Visual Ethnography etc.
INDIVIDUAL CONSULTATIONS
The Greenhouse project will cover between 2 and 3 individual 1-hour consultations with external experts for every participant. Participants will get to choose those external advisors themselves (if needed, we can offer advice and a list of contacts). These sessions will help students deepen their knowledge, sharpen their tools, or get outside expertise on relevant subjects. These advisors can also include makers invited to offer Case Studies. On top of that, the Greenhouse staff will be available to the participants for monthly consultations on the general development of their research.
INDIVIDUAL RESEARCH BUDGET (500€ pp.)
All the participants will be granted seed money of up to 500EUR to help them refine or execute their ideas. This amount can potentially be spent on anything that will help participants deepen their research such as film experiments, additional consultations, books, working/study materials, expertise, museum visits, festival badges, travel to research locations, visits to the relevant institutions, necessary training courses etc.
