Exploring Curiosity: Research at the Netherlands Film Academy

The NFA Research Weekend is organised by the Lectoraat of the Netherlands Film Academy. In it, students, teachers and staff of the Academy will share with each other and the audience where their curiosity has led them. Because research is nothing more than allowing oneself to be curious, to have questions, to wonder what will happen when one tries something different, when one tests and experiments, and then shares what one has found out…

The Lectoraat, or Research Group, of the Film Academy cherises, instigates and facilitates that drive. That is its aim: to be a research hub for the Academy, strenghtening a research mentality in the Film Academy’s students, teachers and staff, of both its master and its bachelor programmes.

The Research Weekend shows a huge variety of projects that attest to that mindset – explorations that are all driven, bottom up, by the questions that the researchers encountered in their practice as teachers, students and staff. And equally varied are the forms in which they invite the audience into their ongoing enquiries - from lectures and lecture performances, to films and hands-on workshops.

Enjoy!
