Kleoniki Stanich (GR, 1994) is a visual artist located in Amsterdam, NL.
Her artistic practice focuses around film-making as it navigates tales of grief, desire, and the female voice. Additionally, she is interested in systems of (non) communication and the performance-politics embodied in social behaviour. In her work, Kleoniki explores alternative methodologies in filmmaking, such as the fictionalisation of improvised narratives and/ or visuals, often resulting in genre-bending films. Her current research delves into, amongst other topics, the practice of lament singing as seen in Northern Greece and Southern Albania, as well as an investigation into the mystery of an unconscious female body. Kleoniki was awarded a fellowship by Artworks fellows and the Stavros Niarchos foundation in Athens, GR, followed by a grant by the Mondriaan Fund in Amsterdam, NL. Prior to that, she had been a co-founding member of Laurel Project Space (2020-2022). Her work has been shown at Looiersgracht 60, Ron Mandos gallery, the Netherlands Film Festival and Art Rotterdam, amongst others. Her practice has been additionally supported by the Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst, Fonds Kwadraat and the GRA awards.
