Tuition fee

The amount of the tuition fee applicable depends on the student’s nationality and previous education in the Netherlands (i.e. courses attended abroad do not count). The higher vocational education (HBO) tuition fee is set in the summer each year. Find the statutory HBO tuition here.

  • Students of Dutch nationality who have already completed a course in the Netherlands
If a student has obtained a bachelor's degree only (and received four years’ student grant in the process), then he/she is entitled one further year’s student grant for an master's course. These students have to pay two years’ Statutory Tuition Fees here. If a student has obtained a master's degree in the Netherlands, then he/she has to pay two years’ Institutional Fees.
  • EU students of non-Dutch nationality who have not attended a course in the Netherlands (the points listed under a. are applicable to those who have previously studied in the Netherlands). On the basis of their nationality, these students have to pay two years’ Statutory Tuition Fees here.
  • Non-EU students have to pay two years’ Institutional Fees regardless of further circumstances.

In addition to the tuition fee or institutional fee, each student also has to pay a contribution towards teaching materials of €300 during the first year. This sum is used to pay for the introduction week.
