Kiva Liu 刘宽 (b.1990, Sichuan, China) is a filmmaker and writer based in Beijing and Amsterdam. Her work explores how film practice, both as methodology and outcome of its mechanism, can be mobilized to stretch the space between journalism and poetry, feminism and generational trauma, identity and migration, rest and resistance.   

As a filmmaker, her works have been shown internationally and she received the Best Short award at FIRST int’l film festival in 2021. She has directed and produced numerous documentary series widely broadcasted in China and worked as an editor-in-chief for One-Way Street Journal, a literature magazine from Beijing. As a writer, her writings, mostly feature stories and poetry, have been published in New York Times Magazine, Southern Weekly, VOGUE among many others.
